Neville was a pudgy boy, a boy who was ridiculed all the time by his classmates. He wasn't a particularly offensive young lad, either, being merely in the right place at the right time, or the wrong place at the right time, to be the butt of many a practical joke. On a Saturday, Neville, sitting in the kitchen while his mother prepared ginger cookie batter, said, "Mum, all the kids at school tease me and call me names." His mother looked at him for a minute, and then she said, "Neville, because I am your mother, and because I love you, I'm going to tell you something. I am actually a giant panda." |
